This month's DIY Project

This week I decided to repaint my half bath/laundry room. It was in dire need of a refresher! As you can see in these two before pictures, the old paint was a candy stick blue color and the large mirror hadn't been removed when this color was applied. My daughter and I figured we could knock the project out over a two-day period. Allowing the paint to thoroughly dry between coats. The base boards are also in need of a coat of white.

We cleaned out everything not nailed down, removed plug-in and light switch covers, took the mirror down, and washed the walls.

(Ignore the sink, it too will get a nice de-rusting scrub)
While we waited for the walls to dry, we drove over to the local hardware store (I prefer The Home Depot honestly, but wasn't able to get there this time), and got what supplies we would need. A few new brushes for cutting in edges, paint rollers, (I have plenty of handles), roller pan cover, and chose what paint color would look best in this room.

We went with a nice green color called Southfield Green by Benjamin Moore. 1 Gallon was more than enough for two coats.

It took us maybe an hour between the two of us per coat. Once the walls were dry from all coats, I put everything back where they were supposed to be. As you can see, this room looks gorgeous now and all it took was a little bit of paint!
Eventually, I will put new flooring and possibly a new light fixture (I'm not totally in love with this light) to tie it all together. But, home DIYer's gotta stick to a budget and so do I!.
After project was completed!

If you look at the door, it also used to be white and had dog scratches on it from a previous owner. We cleaned her up good.

DIY Painting Tips:
In between painting the two different coats, I used a plastic grocery bag to securely close the paint roller inside so it wouldn't dry out overnight.
My next DIY will be detailing how we installed a gorgeous stick on backsplash in my kitchen and updating our kids bathroom!
